Hertha sign Uremovic, extend with Ngankam

Hertha BSC have landed Filip Uremovic and extended Jessic Ngankam's contract.
Hertha BSC have acquired Filip Uremovic on a free transfer from Rubin Kazan.

The 25-year-old, who is capable of playing as a right-back and in central defence, has joined Hertha on a contract until 2026.

"We have been able to sign a strong player in Filip Uremović, one that has been able to pick up valuable experience in several different leagues despite his young age. In addition to his versatility, we are also impressed by his tough-tackling nature as well as the leadership qualities he has shown on the pitch, having been captain at his former club. We are very happy that Filip has decided to move to Berlin," stated managing director for sport Fredi Bobic.

Uremovic, who spent the last two months on loan at Sheffield United, commented:

"I want to take the next step in my career, continue to improve and help the team, which is why I am here."

Earlier today, Hertha also confirmed that Jessic Ngankam has returned from his loan spell at Greuther Fürth and signed a contract extension until 2025.

"Unfortunately, Jessic suffered an injury at the beginning of the season that saw him unable to pick up playing time until the second half of the season. However, he will be able to return to us having gained valuable experience. We are looking forward to having him back and are pleased that he has agreed to extend his contract with us by an additional two years," stated Fredi Bobic.
