During the summer, Borussia Dortmund's Shinji Kagawa was linked with a move to Spain. A transfer never materialised, but the 29-year-old is adamant that he wants to try himself out in the Spanish La Liga.

"Over the past two to three years, I have always been thinking about what I can do to go to Spain," Kagawa told Nikkan Sports according to AFP and added:

"I cannot end my career as a football player without going to Spain. I absolutely want to achieve that."

Kagawa has been unable to get regular playing time under Lucien Favre at Dortmund this season and has been limited to just four appearances.

The offensive midfielder admits he's not happy about his current situation and believes a change of environment could be good for him.

"I want to find a solution to this situation. One is to change teams," Kagawa said and went on:

"I have this growing sense of wishing to change my environment and take on new challenges."

"I have nothing to lose. I am confident that I can shine in the next stage of my career," the 29-year-old said.
