Augsburg midfielder Fredrik Jensen has been strongly linked with a move to MLS side St. Louis City SC in recent weeks.

Jensen recently missed Augsburg's training session ahead of their goalless draw with Eintracht Frankfurt due to transfer talks in the U.S., and the move was seen as a formality.

However, according to local publication Augsburger Allgemeine, the transfer has collapsed after the player, the American club and the MLS failed to reach an agreement.

Jensen, 27, is now expected to see out the remainder of his contract, which expires in the summer, and leave Augsburg on a free transfer after seven years with the club.

A contract extension is apparently not being considered by ‘Die Fuggerstädter’.
