The Irons reach their season target of survival after a dramatic draw against Pokal finalist Stuttgart. All strikes scored before the break as it goes down as the half with the most goals in Bundesliga history.

"We've put together a run that has seen us achieve our goal four games before the end of the season: staying up,” said the delighted Steffen Baumgart after the game. “Of course, I often shook my head in disbelief in the first half.”

The dramatic half was a fitting tribute for a special day in Union Berlin’s short stay in Germany’s top-flight. It was their 200th Bundesliga game, and a 100th home fixture in front of their home support.

“The extraordinary goals exactly fit in with this crazy day,” said Baumgart. The 53-year-old was a crowd favorite at Försterei in his short playing spell with the club. Although he struggled at the start as Union Berlin's coach, he now beats the drop with four games to spare.
