"The motive of the choreo was actually fairly innocuous," club sporting director Christian Keller noted in a post-match interview, "But in connection with the incidents in Nice, which are still in the back of many people's minds, it was inappropriate. That's why we didn't approve it. Anything that is not approved does not belong in the stadium."
The 46-year-old club executive, after reiterating that Köln had specifically turned down the request of the ultras to present the choreography, noted that the supporters had smuggled the colored sheets in through the RheinEnergieStadion fences. It's unclear as to whether there will be any consequences for the dimply. Keller merely called the choreo "inappropriate."
