Di Salvo nominates Becker to take Knauff's place on Euro roster

The German F.A. confirmed on Monday that TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Finn Ole Becker would take the roster spot of the injured Ansgar Knauff for the coming UEFA U21 European Championship.
A serious collarbone injury will keep newly signed Eintracht Frankfurt wingback Ansgar Knauff out of both the coming UEFA U21 European Championship and the start of the 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign. On Monday, the German FA confirmed that Germany U21 head-coach Antonio di Salvo has called up Hoffenheim midfielder FinnOle Becker as Knauff's replacement.

The 23-year-old has been capped thrice at Germany's highest youth level. Becker also emerged as a regular for his club during the latter stages of the recently-completed club campaign. TSG trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo trusted the youngster with six starts amid the team's tough fight against relegation.

"[Becker] didn't hesitate at all, was very happy about the call-up, and cut short his vacation for us," di Salvo noted in a statement accompanying the news, "That's no small thing. We are delighted that Finn Ole was able to step in at such short notice and strengthen our squad for the European Championship."
