Hertha BSC sporting director Michael Preetz says he's hopeful that Liverpool loanee Marko Grujic will stay beyond this season.

The 22-year-old has been highly impressive since joining Hertha on a one-year loan deal last summer, and Preetz wants to talk to Liverpool about the possibility of extending Grujic's stay in Germany.

"First and foremost, we're happy that we have Marko. I'd always prefer that a player helps me out for a year than not at all. We'll certainly talk to Liverpool about the next season," the Hertha boss told Kicker.

"All the guys, who put their ambitions into words, can help us make a difference in a season when something extraordinary is possible. That is our goal, and it would be wonderful to succesfully take the next step together in this constellation," he said.

Grujic has made 10 appearances for Hertha, scoring two goals.
