Frank Baumann to step down as Werder boss
Frank Baumann will leave his position as Werder Bremen managing director for sport at the end of the season.

Werder confirmed on Wednesday that the 48-year-old has informed the club that he will not be renewing his contract, which expires next summer.
The club's current head of first-team football, Clemens Fritz, is one of the options being considered in the search for a successor, confirmed Werder's supervisory board chairman, Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald.
"We as the supervisory board very much regret Frank's decision, but of course we respect and accept it," said Hess-Grunewald.
"It was important for us to have clarity early on as to whether or not Frank would be available beyond June 30, 2024. As a board, we are well prepared and will intensively continue the process that has already begun in order to find a successor for Frank Baumann and the best solution for Werder Bremen. We will examine both internal and external options."
"Clemens Fritz, who is one of the candidates to succeed Frank, will of course play a role in this process. We want to find a solution by the end of the first quarter of 2024. Frank will continue to be fully responsible for sports-related issues and projects until the end of his contract."
Baumann has worked with the club in a variety of roles since 2010. He also spent the majority of his playing career at Werder.
