Bayern bosses reflect on Sané's form crisis

Bayern bosses Herbert Hainer and Christoph Freund have given their backing to Leroy Sane after another frustrating night for the winger against RB Leipzig.
Leroy Sané started the season with a bang, but he hasn't been able to live up to that in recent weeks, and Saturday's 2-1 win over RB Leipzig was another frustrating night for the winger, who was substituted after 65 minutes.

After the game, Bayern president Herbert Hainer went to the dressing room to try to boost Sané's confidence.

"He was lyong on the bench with a little groin problem. I told him again: 'Leroy, you know we're all behind you. You can do anything as a footballer - just show us again,'" Lainer told AZ.

"Leroy is an incredibly talented player who lives from his emotions and inspiration. He's having good moments at the moment, but didn't manage to get on the scoresheet, as we saw. But things can change quickly."

The club's sporting director, Christoph Freund, addressed Sane's struggles in a similar vein.

"He played a good game in Bochum when he came in. He had to score in the first half against Leipzig, but sometimes it's not that easy in football. He will figure things out again. Leroy knows what he can do. He has been through this before. He's had some good games now, and the goals will come again."
