Kimmich confirms desire to play at the number six position for Bayern

Joshua Kimmich plays as a holding midfielder for Germany, and he hopes to get to do so for Bayern München as well.
After the World Cup, Germany coach Joachim Löw has moved Joshua Kimmich from the right-back position to the defensive midfield.

Speaking to Sky, Kimmich now says he hopes that he will eventually get to play at the number six position for Bayern München as well.

"The position gives me a more central role which makes it possible for me to reach more players on the field through my emotions. When I play at right-back at Bayern, I'm not always 100 percent involved in the game. That's quite different at the number six position," Kimmich explained.

"I know the position from an early age. I've always played there in my youth. As I've often said: if I prefer one position over the other, it's the number six position, and it's my goal to play as a number six in the long run," he added.

Kimmich played regularly in midfield for RB Leipzig before joining Bayern in 2015. He has been used as a midfielder eight times for Bayern this season while he has featured at right-back 29 times.
