Steffen joined Fortuna on loan from Manchester City last summer, and Pfannenstiel has been really impressed with the 24-year-old's performances.
"Zack has had a fantastic start to the season and has shown that he can become a top goalkeeper in Europe," Pfannenstiel said in an interview with Transfermarkt and added:
"Under normal circumstances, we wouldn't be able to get a goalkeeper of his caliber on the market."
"Giving players the chance to play in one of the best leagues in the world by taking them in on loan is a win-win situation," he said.
The U.S. international has made 18 appearances for Fortuna so far. He missed the club's last two games due to injury.
