Football has the ability to move the masses in Germany, and it's estimated that at least 45 million Germans are interested in football.

In an extensive study, Statista interviewed 3.030 fans within Germany about different topics regarding the Bundesliga and fan culture.

According to the study, Borussia Dortmund are the most popular club in Germany with 52 percent of the respondents answering that they are either fans of Borussia Dortmund or sympathizes with the BVB. 31 percent are neutral towards Dortmund while 17 percent dislike/hate the club.

Bayern München are the second most popular club, but the German champions are just as disliked as they are liked. 41 percent are positive towards Bayern, 18 percent are neutral while 41 percent dislike the Bavarians.

RB Leipzig (28 percent dislikes), Hamburger SV (27 percent dislikes), Schalke 04 (25 percent dislikes) and VfL Wolfsburg (25 percent dislikes) are also among the clubs that awake the most negative feelings.

SC Freiburg, on the other hand, are the club that the fewest have anything against - only 10 percent say they don't like the 'Brazilians of Breisgau'.
