Bayern München midfielder Leon Goretzka has expressed concern over the rising increase in COVID-19 cases in the Bundesliga.

After the likes of Dortmund's Manuel Akanji and Hoffenheim duo Andrej Kramaric and Kasim Adams returned positive coronavirus tests in recent weeks, Goretzka's Bayern teammate Serge Gnabry tested positive ahead of Wednesday's 4-0 win over Atlético Madrid.

Speaking on Wednesday, Goretzka admitted the recent development of the pandemic is worrying him.

"We must continue to strictly obey to the rules, wear masks and keep our distance from others. It's like an avalanche coming closer, even in your own environment. You hear more and more often that it affects people you know well. You just have to keep on sticking strictly to the guidelines and hope for the best," Goretzka told Sky.

Most recently, Werder Bremen announced on Thursday that a member of their first-team squad has tested positive for coronavirus.

Gnabry is expected to miss out against Eintracht Frankfurt, Lokomotiv Moscow, FC Köln and possibly RB Salzburg.
