Tobias Sippel will remain with Borussia Mönchengladbach beyond the summer, the Rhineland club confirmed today, 30 March.

A one-year extension for the 38-year-old has several benefits to Gladbach given his role in the team and club as a whole.

Specifically, the veteran will be available to the first team as a third-choice goalkeeper, while also serving as a youth goalkeeping coach.

"Tobi is a real asset to our squad and our dressing room, both as a person and as a goalkeeper, on and off the pitch.

"He already took his first steps in coaching last season and will continue to do so in the new season to prepare for life after his playing career.

"It's a good solution for a deserving Borussia player, one that benefits both sides," said Gladbach sporting director Rouven Schröder.
