Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany had plenty of reasons to be pleased with the performance of his players in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

However, the fact that the Bavarians didn't come out on top was a fly in the ointment for the former Belgium international.

"As Bayern coach, you always want to win at home. The way the game went was what we wanted. The important thing is that we keep going and trust that we can win so many games," said Kompany in a post-match interview.

"You don't normally get that many chances in a game like this. We had them, so it's a shame we didn't win.

“It was a top match, and it looked like a top match.”
