Völler compares Füllkrug to Gerd Müller
Niclas Füllkrug has been a big difference-maker for Germany at Euro 2024, scoring two goals off the bench.
The Borussia Dortmund striker has now scored 12 goals in 19 appearances for Germany, finding the net every 58 minutes for his country.
Füllkrug's effectiveness in front of goal has led Germany sporting director Rudi Völler to compare him to the legendary Gerd Muller, who averaged a goal every 81 minutes in 62 appearances for Germany.
"His goalscoring record is unbelievable and can only be compared to that of Gerd Müller," Völler told Sport1.
"Niclas creates an abundance of chances as soon as he's on the pitch," he said.
“He is down-to-earth. Fülle's manner is not only appreciated by the fans, but also by his teammates.”
Völler also found praise for Kai Havertz, who has been ahead of Füllkrug in the pecking order at the Euros so far.
“He is incredibly valuable to us because of his technical ability, the way he catches the ball, the way he runs wide and his strength in the air,” said the Germany boss.
