Werder Bremen are still hoping to offload out-of-favor midfielder Naby Keita.
The transfer window is closed in Germany, but still open in other countries such as Greece (until September 11) and Turkey (until September 13).
That's why Werder's head of first-team football, Peter Niemeyer, hasn't given up hope yet.
"You hear something here and there. But so far it hasn't gotten to the point where it's concrete. We still hope to find a solution," Niemeyer told Kicker.
“We are waiting until all the transfer windows are closed. Until then, we will work on possible solutions. And if we get to a point where that possibility no longer exists, we will reassess the situation,” he added.
Keita has been suspended from Werder's first-team training for disciplinary reasons and has been training on his own for months.
Expectations were high when the former RB Leipzig midfielder joined Werder on a free transfer from Liverpool in the summer of 2023.
However, he made just five appearances in his first season at the Weserstadion.
