At the age of 21, Jens Castrop has established himself as an important player for 2. Bundesliga side FC Nürnberg.

Now, the central midfielder could be about to take the next step in his career - perhaps as early as January.

According to Sky Germany, Werder Bremen and Union Berlin have the Germany U21 international on their radar.

The report claims that Castrop could leave the club in January, but only if the price is right, with Nürnberg demanding a fee in excess of €2.5 million.

Castrop has represented Germany at all youth levels and most recently played for the U21 side in a 3-0 win over Denmark last week.

He has a goal and an assist in 11 games for Nürnberg this season.
