Former Bayern star Thiago announces retirement from football

Former Bayern Munich player Thiago Alcantara has confirmed that he's retiring from football.

 

At the age of 33, Thiago Alcantara is hanging up his boots. 

The former Spain international, who played for Bayern Munich between 2013 and 2020, announced the decision on his social media channels on Monday. 

“I will always be willing to give back what I have been given and I am grateful for the time I have enjoyed it,” Thiago wrote, adding:

"Thank you, football. And to all who accompanied me and made me a better player and person along the way.

Thiago." 

Thiago joined Bayern from FC Barcelona in 2013 and moved on to Liverpool in 2020.

At Bayern, Thiago won the Bundesliga seven times, the DFB-Pokal four times, the DFL-Supercup twice as well as the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
