Harry Kane: "Painful" Euro 2024 final defeat will "hurt for a long time"

Bayern Munich star Harry Kane says England's "painful" Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain will "hurt for a long time".

Harry Kane missed the chance to end his long-awaited quest for silverware as England lost 2-1 to Spain in the Euro 2024 final on Sunday.

The Bayern Munich star was understandably disappointed afterwards.

“It's hard to put into words how we're all feeling right now. Tough game,” Kane told ITV after the game.

"We did well to get back into the game and struggled to build on that. To concede late on is really tough to take.

“It's an opportunity missed. These finals aren't easy to get to. You have to take it when it comes and we haven't done it again. It's extremely painful and it'll hurt for a long time.”

Kane, who scored three goals during the tournament, was taken off in the 61st minute.

His three goals saw him share the Golden Boot with Bayern teammate Jamal Musiala and RB Leipzig's Dani Olmo, as well as Cody Gakpo, Georges Mikautadze and Ivan Schranz.

He will now take a summer break before returning to Bayern Munich to prepare for the new season.
