Joshua Kimmich has shared his initial thoughts on the appointment of Vincent Kompany as the new Bayern Munich coach.

"Of course I know him from a distance as a player. I can't judge him as a coach yet. Of course it's important for my future, but first of all it's important for me what the club thinks. It's nice that we have one less thing to worry about," Kimmich said at a press conference on Saturday.

With around a year left on his contract with Bayern, Kimmich says he remains relaxed about his future.

"It's not just up to me now. It will also be a question of how the club sees it and what the club wants. I think there will be talks at some point," he said, adding:

"The situation is not uncertain for me. It's very clear, I've got a year left on my contract and a European Championship to play in, so that's what I'm concentrating on.

“After that, as I said, there will probably be talks. FC Bayern will be my first point of contact.”
