After playing for Bayern München's reserve team for three seasons, 20-year-old Niklas Dorsch left the club to join 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Heidenheim on a free transfer in the summer.
Dorsch, who came through the youth ranks at Bayern, waited patiently to get a chance in the first team, but only made one appearance and scored one goal before leaving the club. According to the 20-year-old, he wasn't really given a chance.
"I just didn't get a fair chance. Young players weren't noticed much. If you play once and score a goal, there is suddenly a lot of talk about you. Before that, nobody was interested in what I did," Dorsch told TZ and added:
"It helped a lot that I was allowed to train with professionals. I'm very grateful for that. There are world-class players who have a lot of experience. I tried to do everything I could in every training session, but I always wanted to play."
The midfielder has played 13 games for Heidenheim this season.
