SV trainer Torstern Lieberknecht confirmed that ankle surgery will sideline the Scotsman for the year whilst speaking at his Friday presser. Lieberknecht also spoke on the matter of attacking midfield Braydon Manu at the Friday media round. Ankle problems have limited the German-Ghanian to just two appearances this year. Lieberknecht noted that Manu's return was not in sight. He too, might need to undergo ankle surgery.
Darmstadt obviously entered the current transfer window in desperate need of some additional attacking assistance, but remain severely limited in what they can hope to swing financially. It has been rumored by numerous German footballing media sources that TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - seeking a place to park German youth international Julian Justvan - may be willing to send the attacking prospect to Hessen.
Lieberknecht spoke on said rumors on Friday, noting that he felt Justvan to be "a good player" whom he had kept close tabs on during his three seasons spent playing for SC Paderborn 07 in the 2. Bundesliga. Justvan signed for Hoffenheim early this offseason, yet has made just five relief appearances under TSG trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo this year. Justvan registered an assist in Hoffenheim's opening round Pokal victory over Lübeck.
