Bremen updates: Malatini set for introduction, Rapp headed to KSC

German footballing journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that SV Werder Bremen are on the verge of confirming two transactions.
Once the incoming transfer of Julián Malatini is confirmed, SV Werder Bremen are set to announce the departure of defensive midfielder/center back Nicolai Rapp. This is reported by German footballing journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany. Plettenberg claims that Rapp will move to second division side Karlsruher SC. Whether the 27-year-old will be loaned or sold outright is not specified.

SV Werder Bremen licensing director Clemens Fritz is on record stating that the Hanseatic city-state side did wish to retain Rapp, who made two league appearances for Ole Werner's side this season. The former German youth international played an important role in Bremen's 2021/22 promotion campaign that saw them return to the top flight.

Rapp nevertheless hasn't played much of a role for the team in the first division. He was loaned back out to the 2. Bundesliga during the second half of last season. The Heidelberg-native has been loaned out a total of five times by parent clubs Bremen, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, and Union Berlin. The vast majority of his career has been played in the second division.
