Yannick Gerhardt has extended his contract with VfL Wolfsburg, which was due to expire in 2025.

The length of Gerhardt's new contract was not disclosed by the club.

"The fact that one of our longest-serving players has made such a clear commitment to the club is a strong statement for the future,” commented VfL Wolfsburg managing director Marcel Schäfer.

"Yannick is not only synonymous with passion and reliability on the pitch, he also embodies the club’s values off the pitch in an impressive way and fully identifies with our path. We’re delighted that we can continue to plan with him."

Gerhardt, who has played for Wolfsburg since 2016, said:

"I’ve had some incredibly exciting and eventful years at VfL so far, but my journey here is far from over.

"It goes without saying that I’m incredibly settled in Wolfsburg. Particularly now, in these troubled times on the pitch, it feels great to be able to make a statement like this. I’m really looking forward to being part of this team in the future."
