Christopher Nkunku admired 'outstanding' Zinedine Zidane

RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku says he idolized Zinedine Zidane as a child.
Christopher Nkunku has revealed he looked up to French legend Zinedine Zidane while growing up.

The 22-year-old, who joined RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, told Sport Bild:

"Zinedine Zidane made a huge impression on me at the World Cup in Germany in 2006. I sat in front of the TV and was amazed. He was so outstanding. Every child wanted to be like him, and so did I."

Although Nkunku didn't manage to nail down a regular starting berth at Paris Saint-Germain before joining RB Leipzig, he learned a lot during his time in the French capital, playing with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Neymar.

"Training with them certainly doesn't make you any worse. What I learned the most is that they alone can make the difference. And they never think about losing," Nkunku said.

The French midfielder has made 20 appearances for RB Leipzig so far with three goals and eight assists to his name.
