The spread of the coronavirus has paralyzed the football world, with all big national leagues and international competitions currently suspended.

Nobody knows when and if it will be possible to continue the season at some point. But under all circumstances, the national leagues should have top priority within football, says Bayer Leverkusen boss Rudi Völler.

"Despite the importance of the European Championship, Champions League and Europa League, the national leagues are most important. And I say this even though we have good chances in the Europa League," Völler told Sport1.

"I don't expect us to be able to play games in front of a lot of fans. If the season continues at some point, it will be behind closed doors," he added.
