Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus has provided an update on his recovery from the muscle injury that has kept him sidelined since February.

Speaking in an interview with Sport Bild, the 30-year-old reveals that his recovery schedule was changed when it became apparent that all football would be suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"When it became clear that the games would be suspended, we sat down and changed my rehab plan. I'm used to getting back from injury breaks as quickly as possible. The pressure to be fit again is usually much greater. Now, I'm using the break to completely readjust my body and bring it into top condition before I get back into full gear. The league is planning to continue in early May," Reus said.

Asked if he expects to be fit again at that point, the BVB captain responded:

"You can count on me again in May! But at this point, it's not possible to say when exactly. I have to wait and see how my body reacts to the increasing stress. But at the moment, I feel very good."

Reus has made 26 appearances for Dortmund this season with 12 goals and seven assists to his name.
