FC Bayern name strong 23-man squad for Club World Cup in Qatar

Bayern München begin their quest to secure the continental title, having previous won the FIFA CWC in 2013 and Intercontinental Cups in 1976 and 2001.
Bayern München have released the club’s official squad who will take part in the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar. The strong 23-man line up not only consists of regular big game starters such as Thomas Muller, Lewandowski and David Alaba but also teenage sensation Jamal Musiala, who is the youngest member of the squad – aged just 17.

After winning the treble in 2013, Bayern Munich went onto to capture their first and only Club World Cup in Morocco, overcoming local hosts Raja Casablanca. This time, Bayern will play to register the club’s first sextuple and equal Corinthians’ record of 2 CWC titles – behind Barcelona (3) & Real Madrid (4).

The tournament begins on 4 February and will last until 11 February. The European champions start in the semi-finals and will play either Qatari side Al-Duhail or African champions, Al Ahly, on February 8. If Bayern win, they will face the winner of Palmeiras vs. Tigres/Ulsan Hyundai in the final at the magnificent Education City Stadium on February 11.

Bayern will be looking to add another trophy to their roster after having secured the Bundesliga title, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, DFB Cup and DFL Supercup in the past twelve months. If the Bavarians manage to win the FIFA CWC, it will be the club’s sixth accolade within 12 months – an European feat only managed by Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona back in 2009.
