Report: Bayern consider moves for two Bundesliga defenders

Bayern München are understood to be interested in Werder Bremen's Marco Friedl and VfB Stuttgart's Borna Sosa.
Lucas Hernandez has mostly been used as a left-back since his arrival at Bayern München in 2019, but with David Alaba expected to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season, the French international will probably be the club's preferred left-footed centre-back for the 2021/22 season.

Accordingly, the Bavarians are considering signing a new backup for Alphonso Davies at the left-back position, according to Sport Bild, who claims that Werder Bremen's Marco Friedl and Stuttgart's Borna Sosa have been lined up as possible candidates.

Friedl, 22, came through the youth ranks at Bayern before moving to Werder Bremen in 2018, and Bayern are understood to have an option to re-sign him for €10 million. Like Hernandez, Friedl can operate both as a left-back and as a centre-back.

Sosa plays as a wing-back for Stuttgart and is a more offensively oriented option. The 23-year-old, who has made four assists in 17 appearances this season, would cost around €20 million, as per Sport Bild.

The Bavarians have also been linked with Reading's Omar Richards and Hertha BSC's Luca Netz.

In addition to a left-back, Bayern are intending to bring in a centre-back and have lined up RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano as their top candidate.
