The health department ordered immediate domestic isolation for a further eight players and two other members of the coaching team, so a total of 14 'Mainzers' are currently in quarantine.
'Die Nullfünfer' are scheduled to kick off their Bundesliga campaign against RB Leipzig on Sunday.
Whether the clash is in risk of being postponed is unclear at this point, but according to the German Football League's regulations, each club only need to have 13 available players for a game to take place.
