Reus reveals he turned down inquiries from Saudi Arabia and the Bundesliga

After carefully considering his future, Marco Reus decided to join LA Galaxy during the summer following the expiration of his contract with Borussia Dortmund. In an interview with Sport Bild, the German veteran now reveals he had other inquiries, including from Saudi Arabia and the Bundesliga.

Marco Reus has revealed that he turned down a number of offers to join LA Galaxy over the summer.

A move to Saudi Arabia was one possibility that he ultimately decided against.

“I did a lot of research on the country, it was a long process. But then the job in the USA appealed more to me,” he told Sport Bild.

Reus also confirmed that there was interest from the Bundesliga.

"Yes, there was. But I turned it down immediately because I didn't want it," he insisted.

The decision to leave Borussia Dortmund after 12 years was, of course, a difficult one.

“We met with the people in charge and quickly realized in the conversation: 'Okay, that's it. It's been a great journey, with many ups and downs, and now it's coming to an end', said Reus.

"It was a difficult moment. But it was important for me to know and announce it early so I could enjoy the last few weeks.”
