Frimpong "on the verge" of Liverpool move

Kicker reports that Jeremie Frimpong will "almost certainly" leave Bayer Leverkusen to join Liverpool.

Speculation has been mounting recently linking Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong with a move to Liverpool, as the Reds search for a replacement for the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Now, Kicker reports that the 24-year-old will “almost certainly” leave Die Werkself and is “on the verge” of a move to Anfield.

According to the German outlet, “if anything,” only the “final details remain to be sorted out” before the transfer is finalized.

Leverkusen are powerless to stop the move, as Frimpong has a release clause reportedly set between €35 and €40 million.

The Dutch wing-back could become the latest high-profile departure from the BayArena, following head coach Xabi Alonso and centre-back Jonathan Tah.

Alonso is expected to take over at Real Madrid, while Tah is reportedly close to joining Bayern Munich

In addition, star playmaker Florian Wirtz is being heavily linked with a summer switch to Bayern.

Frimpong has scored five goals and provided 12 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions this season.

He joined Die Werkself from Celtic in January 2021 for a fee of €11 million.
