Union updates: Bedia loaned out to Hull, FCU to swap Prtajin for Ache?

The sale of 1. FC Union Berlin striker Chris Bedia to EFL Championship side Hull City has officially been confirmed.

In other FCU-related transfer news, German footballing journalists Moritz Kreilinger and Jannis Klimburg of Germany's Kicker Magazine report that die Eisernen have not given up their pursuit of 1. FC Kaiserslautern striker Ragnar Ache.

As part of efforts to convince Lautern to let their leading goal-scorer go, Union are said to be considering sending newly signed forward Ivan Prtajin back to the second division.

One of three Bundesliga players linked with EFL Championship side Hull City F.C. has completed the switch. Ivorian striker Chris Bedia of 1. FC Union Berlin has been loaned out to the Tigers. Union's January signing remains under contract with die Eisernen through 2027. The 28-year-old does have one Bundesliga goal to his credit during his short stint in the German top flight.

Germany's preeminent footballing publication, among others, report that 2023/24 Bundesliga relegation contenders Union have not necessarily given up their search for additional attacking assistance ahead of the new season. Despite the fact that an initial offer for former Eintracht Frankfurt and current 1. FC Kaiserslautern striker Ragnar Ache was rejected, Horst Heldt and the FCU administrative team still wish to bring the 26-year-old on board.

The Köpenick side and the Pfälzer still remain far apart on the asking price, but a deal could still go through for a number of reasons. Firstly, new Lautern summer signing Jannik Mause may be able to help bridge the gap left by Ache's 16 league goal's last-season. The 2023/24 3. Liga leading goal-scorer netted a brace in the FCK's opening round Pokal victory last weekend.

Moreover, Kicker Magazine journalists Moritz Kreilinger and Jannis Klimburg also report that Union may be willing to send one of their new summer signings back down to the second division. Former SV Wehen Wiesbaden striker Ivan Prtajin may be loaned to Lautern. The 28-year-old appears to play little role in FCU head-coach Bo Svensson's plans for the coming season and remained unused on the bench in Union's opening round Pokal victory.
