Union updates: Lautern reject FCU bid for Ache, Villa's Archer a loan candidate?

Sky Germany reports that German second division side 1. FC Kaiserslautern have rejected an offer in the €4 million range from 1. FC Union Berlin for striker Ragnar Ache.

In other Union-related personnel news, Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that die Eisernen are among several clubs interested in acquiring English attacker Cameron Archer on loan.

Union Berlin have - according to Sky Germany - seen an attempt to procure additional attacking assistance ahead of the new season thwarted. FC Kaiserslautern were, per the pay-TV channel, tendered an offer for lead striker Ragnar Ache. The Pfälzer Red Devils nevertheless immediately rejected a bid in the €3-4 million range. The final word in the matter may not have been said, however.

The former SGE prospect, having rebuilt his playing reputation and raised his estimated market worth up to a career high of €3 million, may wish to again play in the top division. Ache scored 17 league and cup goals for Lautern last season after Frankfurt sold him. He's already notched one tally in the young 2024/25 2. Bundesliga campaign. The 26-year-old has 20 top flight appearances to his credit.

In other FCU-related personnel news, it appears as if the capital city's Köpenick side remain interested in picking up at least one more attacker for the new season. Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that Union are taking a page from last summer's playbook and looking to sign someone on loan. Aston Villa winger/forward Cameron Archer is a potential candidate.

Romano reports that Union and Getafe are the two clubs most proactively seeking to bring the England U21 international on board. Villa recently purchased the 22-year-old from Sheffield United, but wish to park him in a different locale this year. The Italian journalist also claims that Bournemouth are interested in taking him loan from the English Champions' League representatives.
