Having joined Bayer Leverkusen from Olympique Marseille over the summer, Facundo Medina made his first start for the German club against 1. FC Union Berlin on Saturday and got on the scoresheet in Die Werkself’s emphatic 4–0 win.
Judging by his teammates' post-match comments, Medina has already made a big impression – not least with his mentality.
“He’s fierce, nasty. He’s a bit of a hard tackler, too. You’re actually scared of him,” Ibrahim Maza said with a laugh about his new teammate, according to SID.
Patrik Schick described Medina as a player who is “very aggressive, but still very good on the ball.”
“You want a player like that on your team. He’s a great guy,” Schick added.
Bayer Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes also praised the defender’s “aggressiveness”, saying it's something “every team benefits from.”
“He played a good game,” Rolfes said.
