Despite SC Freiburg’s defeat in Lille, Julian Schuster’s side are through to the Round of 16 in the Europa League. The Bundesliga outfit will face one of Dinamo Zagreb, Brann, Genk, or Bologna when they resume their campaign in March.

“It's a great success for us. That's what we need to focus on,” said Julian Schuster after the game. Freiburg’s coach also shuts down negative headlines towards losing the home advantage for the second-leg of the Round of 16.

"I don't want to read anywhere that we've lost our home advantage or anything like that. That’s nonsense," said Schuster regarding the upcoming duel. When the 18 simultaneous games went into the half-time break, Freiburg were in second place, which would have secured a home game in all second-leg ties.

However, the second-half saw Maximilian Eggestein sent off with a straight red card before Lille’s injury-time winner from a penalty-kick relegated Freiburg to seventh place. Schuster added that he had no complaints about the two key refereeing decisions.
