The leaders host the cellar-dwellers on Sunday in the Bundesliga as Bayern Munich look to extend their lead with a win over Mainz. RB Leipzig's defeat at Union Berlin means Vincent Kompany’s team could go to the new year with more distance between them and the chasing pack.

Meanwhile, Mainz need to beat the Rekordmeister to avoid starting 2026 at the bottom of the Bundesliga table. In his Bundesliga debut as a Mainz coach, Urs Fischer will not have the services of Dominik Kohr and Paul Nebel due to suspensions. The captain Silvan Widmer and long-time shot-stopper Robin Zentner are also on the sidelines due to injuries. Nadiem Amiri also failed a late fitness test for the visitors.

Bayern only dropped points to Fischer's old club, Union Berlin, this season. Luis Diaz, who scored a brilliant goal in that 2-2 draw, is absent because of accumulated yellow cards, while Alphonso Davies could play his first minutes of Bundesliga football after recovering from a serious injury. Hiroki Itō, Kim Min-Jae, Tom Bischof, and Leon Goretzka all start for Bayern after the midweek win over Sporting confirmed their place in the Champions League knockout stages.

Here are the lineups for Allianz Arena's closing fixture of the year.
