Leaving Union Berlin on deadline day was "an incredibly unpleasant and bad situation", admits Robin Gosens.

After a summer of speculation, Robin Gosens left Union Berlin on deadline day to join Fiorentina on loan with an option to buy.

In an interview with Copa TS, the left-back explains how difficult it was to say goodbye to his teammates just hours before their Bundesliga match against St. Pauli.

"It was an incredibly unpleasant and bad situation. It was an absolute disservice and I was aware of that. I loved the boys more than anything, I also loved the Alte Försterei more than anything," said Gosens.

Gosens is well aware of how the move looks from the outside.

“It looks like I was only thinking about my own ass, but I was still thinking a lot about my team. I didn't want to let them down, even if people out there might think that.”

However, Fiorentina's offer was simply too good to turn down:

“Even though the situation sucked, I knew it was the right thing for me and my family.”
