    1. FC Köln have appointed Gerhard Struber as their new head coach for the 2024/25 season.

Struber has coached a number of clubs and was most recently in charge of RB Salzburg between the summer of 2023 and April 2024.

“We are very pleased that Gerhard Struber will be the new head coach at 1. FC Köln," said the club's managing director, Christian Keller.

"Gerhard fit superbly into the profile we were looking for. Examples of this are his ability to fit in with FC's gameplan and his expertise and experience in developing young players. Above all that, Gerhard has a conviction and a desire to master our sporting challenges with plenty of positivity, energy and hard work.”

Struber said that he's “taking on the task with a lot of excitement and positivity.”

"I am really looking forward to getting to know the team, coaching staff and the fans. I want to get to know FC as quickly as possible, in order to go about chasing and reaching our goals.”

FC Köln were relegated from the Bundesliga in the 2023/24 season, finishing in 17th place.
