There is a strong tendency that Borussia Dortmund will offer Niko Kovač a contract extension. Talks are advanced and on track.

According to Sky Germany, it's about an extension for another year until 2027, which is the wish of both sides.

Numbers and parameters – including performance bonuses – are being discussed in detail by the two parties.

However, this also involves adjusting contracts within the team behind Kovač - predominantly his coaching staff.

The Westphalian giants, led by boss Lars Ricken, is happy with Kovač's work since taking over the reins in late January 2025.

The deal could be finalized by the first international break in early September – significantly sooner than originally expected.
