Gladbach boss praises Joe Scally: 'He's our player of the season'

Joe Scally has been Gladbach's player of the season so far, according to the club's sporting director, Max Eberl.
18-year-old American right-back Joe Scally has been a regular starter for Gladbach this season, featuring in all of the club's eight games so far.

And the youngster, who made the switch to Borussia-Park from New York City FC in January, has left a positive impression on Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl.

"He's been here since January, has gotten used to Germany and has been playing incredibly well for seven games," Eberl told Sport1.

"For me, he's our player of the season," added the Gladbach boss.

According to today's edition of Sport Bild, Eberl already wanted to sign Scally when the full-back was 16 years old.

However, as an underage U.S. citizen, Scally wasn't able to get a work permit in Germany for legal reasons.

As a result of this, the parties had to wait around two years before finally getting to work together.
