Baku rues 'sloppy' goals after loss to Salzburg

Ridle Baku has lamented the 'sloppy' goals conceded by Wolfsburg in Wednesday's loss to RB Salzburg.
Ridle Baku confesses Wolfsburg conceded 'sloppy' goals in their 3-1 Champions League defeat to RB Salzburg yesterday.

Noah Okafor put two past Wolfsburg in the second half to earn Salzburg a comfortable win after the score was 1-1 at the break, much to the frustration of Baku, who believes the goals were avoidable.

"When you look at the second half we conceded two goals from dead-ball situations, which should never be allowed to happen and ultimately proved decisive in the game. It's incredibly frustrating to lose a game like this after conceding such sloppy goals," Baku said after the game.

"I think at the back and going forward there were problems, it was a general issue of not reaching our potential. Up front we are not creating many chances, and at the back there are some big holes to plug.

After an excellent start to the season, Baku and Wolfsburg have fallen into a slump and are now winless in seven games.

"We've got to get ourselves back on track and show what made us so strong at the start of the season. We've got a squad that are capable of much more," emphasized the former Mainz player.
