Confirmed: Rangers recall Fürth striker Itten early

Rangers have opted to pull an early-return option on loaned-out striker Cedric Itten.

The 25-year-old thus departs SpVgg Greuther Fürth five months early.
Swiss striker Cedric Itten did manage to score two Bundesliga goals in 12 appearances for Germany's last-placed Kleeblatt during his short stay in the Bundesrepublik. The attacker still fell out of favor with SpVgg trainer Stefan Leitl and only featured in the starting XI once since the 11th round. Leitl gave Itten a start during the league's Englisher Woche shortly before Christmas, but was pulled at the half against Borussia Dortmund in round 16.

Seeing that there forward wasn't quite getting the kind of playing time they had hoped for, Glasgow Rangers have opted to pull an early recall clause. SpVgg sporting director Rachid Azzouzi and the player himself confirmed that it was in fact Glasgow exercising this option when commenting on the departure.

The last-placed Middle Franconians have actually procured another attacker already during this January transfer window. Captain Branimir Hrgota and German U21 international Jamie Leweling have been able to turn in more tallies than Itten. Additionally, the club is expecting Hertha loanee Jessic Ngankam back from injury for the second half of the season.
