FC Copenhagen midfielder on interest from Augsburg: "I'd love to play in the Bundesliga"

Jens Stage is proud to have attracted interest from Augsburg, admitting he "would love to play in the Bundesliga."
FC Copenhagen midfielder Jens Stage attracted interest from Augsburg during the winter transfer window, but he ended up staying put as the two clubs couldn't agree on a transfer fee.

In an interview with Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet, 25-year-old Stage has admitted that he is flattered by the interest shown in him by Augsburg.

"The fact that there is interest in me is great. It's definitely exciting interest, too, because I'd like to test myself at another level at some point. I'd love to play in the Bundesliga," said Stage.

According to reports from Denmark, Augsburg had a second bid of €5.4 million turned down for Stage as FC Copenhagen director of football Peter 'PC' Christiansen demanded around €10 million for the midfielder.

"'PC' didn't think the timing was right, and I can accept that. Because right now, I'm facing perhaps the most fun six months I've had in my FC Copenhagen career," said Stage, who went on to admit that he believes the €10 million price tag put on him by FC Copenhagen is a bit steep.
