Bobic rues penalty decision

Hertha chief Fredi Bobic bemoaned the decision to award a penalty to Freiburg in today's game at Europa-Park Stadion.
Hertha BSC managing director for sport Fredi Bobic was left ruing the first-half penalty awarded to Freiburg in his side's 3-0 defeat at Europa-Park Stadion.

Vincenzo Grifo broke the deadlock from the penalty spot 12 minutes into the game after Linus Gechter was adjudged to have fouled Roland Sallai in the box. According to Bobic, though, the penalty should never have been awarded.

"We conceded an unfortunate penalty, which isn't always given. But that's the way it is," Bobic told Sky Germany after the game.

"Yes, there was a slight contact, but not enough for a penalty. You have to take it as it is, but for me it was clearly the wrong decision.

"The result is brutal when you look at the whole game. We tried hard to play forward and created some good chances, but we didn't score in the decisive situations," the 50-year-old summed up.
