Nagelsmann confirms Neuer will miss Leverkusen clash

Bayern captain Manuel Neuer has resumed team training, but will not be available against Bayer Leverkusen.
Manuel Neuer is making progress in his recovery from knee surgery.

Saturday's Bundesliga clash with Bayer Leverkusen, however, comes too soon for the Bayern captain.

"'Manu' was able to do a bit more today for the first time, and was in team training. Things are looking good. He still feels a little twinge when he has to stand up from a deep knee bend. He won't be an option for the squad tomorrow," revealed Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann at a press conference today.

Nagelsmann also provided an update on Alphonso Davies, Corentin Tolisso and Leon Goretzka, who remain unavailable.

"Alphonso Davies is set to undergo another medical today. We will need to wait and see with him, and it will still be a while. Corentin Tolisso is able to run again, which is good, but it will still take one to two weeks," Nagelsmann told reporters.

"Leon is making good progress and is mostly pain-free. He's on his way back. We will try to ease him back into team training over the next one to two weeks."

Meanwhile, Bouna Sarr and Josip Stanisic will be back in the squad.
