Dani Olmo returns to the Spanish national team

Dani Olmo has been called up by Luis Enrique for the upcoming friendlies.
After a very difficult first half of the season, where Dani Olmo suffered the physical consequences of such a long 2020/2021, the RB Leipzig attacking midfielder returns to his national team after being called up by Luis Enrique for the friendlies against Albania and Iceland.

The talented Olmo is hoping to continue his return to his peak form after a number of physical setbacks throughout the season. The ex-Dinamo Zagreb player even changed his diet after the two torn muscle fibers he suffered almost back to back and the constant muscular problems this season.

The Spaniard has suffered the consequences of playing literally everything the season prior.

Like his fellow countryman Pedri, who was also attacked by injuries the first half of the season, the RB Leipzig played 50+ official games between the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, Champions League, European Championship and the Olympics.

Olmo has not completed a full game yet this season for Leipzig, with his last completed match (89 min) being the crucial Spain vs Sweden, where "La Roja" sealed their trip to the World Cup.

The midfielder recently said in an interview with Sport Bild that he is ready to play a full game once again, but that the medical team at RB Leipzig and Domenico Tedesco are taking it with precaution.

Despite this lack of minutes, Olmo's improvement has been quite impressive, achieving 3 goals, 2 assists and 2 man of the match awards since February.

His return shows the complete confidence Spain coach Luis Enrique has in the young player.

Since his breakthrough at Zagreb, Dani Olmo has been a constant in Luis Enrique's plans. Not only in the squad, but in the starting 11 as well.

Olmo started at the WC Qualifiers and the EUROS under Luis Enrique before missing the Nations League with an injury. With Mikel Oyarzabal's terrible cruciate ligament tear, the RB Leipzig player leads the race for the starting spot.

Despite introducing some changes to the list and giving rest to some players, Luis Enrique keeps the core of his regular squad to face Albania in Barcelona on March 26 and Iceland in La Coruña on March 29.
