Kehl admits Dortmund are out of the title race

Winning the Bundesliga title this season is no longer a realistic target for Borussia Dortmund, according to the club's head of first team football, Sebastian Kehl.

Sebastian Kehl says Borussia Dortmund are out of the title race following Sunday's 1-1 draw with FC Köln, which has left 'Die Schwarzgelben' six points behind Bayern München at the top of the table.

"We would have liked to keep it exciting for as long as possible," said Kehl, Dortmund's head of first team football, in an interview with Sport1.

"But we have to assess our chances realistically. After all, we didn't declare the title race open recently. That was something happening in the media.

"Looking at the second half of the season alone, we're level on points with Leipzig, and we want to continue the good trend. To be the best team in the second half of the season is a worthwhile goal for us."

Dortmund have seven games left to play this season.
