Augsburg have joined Bayern München in the race to sign Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, according to Sky Germany.

Talks over a deal to land the 29-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the season, have already taken place, per the German media outlet.

Augsburg's current first-choice goalkeeper, 34-year-old Rafal Gikiewicz, is out of contract next summer.

Leverkusen have already been mentioned in relation to Ortega, but Werkself boss Rudi Völler has ruled out making a move for the goalkeeper.

Bielefeld sporting director Samir Arabi has previously expressed hope that Ortega will sign a contract extension.

"'Tego' is welcome to come to my office tomorrow and sign the contract. There is no doubt he's an important building block. We would like to keep him, but it's not up to us," he said last month.
